Ideate

My design process always starts with physical sketches.

I like to get an idea of the general shapes that I like through multiple iterations. Completing this part of the design in my sketchbook allows me to not be so precious with the "finished" drawings.

Iterate

With initial sketches, I tried to incoprate themes of the free-flying bird and the historic County lighthouse. After further feedback from the client, however, they decided to focus more generally on the natural landscape of the region.

The client also mentioned appreciating the rounded look of Ottawa County’s logo, and asked for me to move more in that direction. As the design became more and more finalized, I started working to create different asset types for the client to utilize in digital and print media.

Finalize

The County ended up not using my final designs. However, we were able to incoperate my existing work into a new logo that they felt represented them best.

Overall, I was thankful for the opportunity to work on this project that showcases a clear timeline of my creative problem-solving process.
